Enforcement Challenge UI 1.0 End of Life Communication
Arkose Labs Enforcement Challenge UI 1.0 is reaching End of Life on September 1, 2024. Any customers who are still on the UI 1.0 version will be migrated to UI 2.0 by September 1, 2024.
Why is this change happening?
The Enforcement Challenge UI 2.0 (EC UI 2.0) has been completely redesigned with a brand new UI component. It offers many benefits such as access to access to new game types, improved latency, flexible custom styling, and WCAG certified accessibility. The vastly superior defense capabilities of the new MatchKey game type (which requires EC UI 2.0) are among the main drivers for this change.
How does the EC UI 2.0 migration work?
The EC UI 2.0 migration started in late 2022 and so far over 90% of our customer traffic has already been migrated to EC UI 2.0.
The requirements and preparation for migrating to EC UI 2.0 is documented in our client-side setup guides. Arkose Labs has been working with each customer to ensure the stated requirements are met, before then testing and enabling the EC UI 2.0 on the customer’s key.
What do I need to do?
Talk to your CSM about testing the EC UI 2.0 in-situ in your protected flow. This in-situ test will allow us to eliminate any edge cases or account for custom deployments, to ensure a smooth transition.
If we do not hear back, we'll proceed with the migration - without in-situ test - by September 1 2024.
What will be the impact for our users and our company?
The migration to EC UI 2.0 offers an extensive list of benefits to your users and your company:
- Unlocking new game types: The redesigned UI component acts as a universal container that dynamically loads different game types. Our newest game type (Match Key) is only supported on EC UI 2.0.
- Superior defense: The new Match Key game type is only supported on EC UI 2.0, and has proven to offer vastly superior defense capabilities compared to older game types. Its design minimizes real user effort and maximizes bad actor cost with improved user experience and powerful security features.
- Improved latency: EC UI 2.0 has a smaller JS bundle size, which provides some performance benefits for your page or app.
- Better desktop and mobile experience: The responsive UI ensures the optimal size and layout for both large and small screens, thereby ensuring optimal user experience across all devices.
- Flexible custom styling: EC UI 2.0 pairs flexible CSS styling with an efficient styling tool chain. Prior styling limitations of EC UI 1.0 have been all but eliminated, unblocking commonly requested design features and more.
- WCAG certified accessibility: EC UI 2.0 enables inclusive web design by improving multiple accessibility methods. Improvements include enhanced screen reader experience, better focus management, and easy-to-use visual labels. EC UI 2.0 is certified compliant with WCAG 2.2 level AA.
